Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay's birth took place on the 24th day of August 1972 in Long Beach California. DuVernay started to discover her artistic and creative side as a child, thanks to Aunt Denise. The aunt worked as a nurse who stayed overnight in order to give her an opportunity to study theatre or literature. DuVernay quickly was captivated with that 1961 West Side Story film. DuVernay began to develop an interest in broadcast journalism as a student. Her first job was as an assistant for CBS News in the O.J. Simpson's trial. DuVernay was assigned to the look-out and search for the house for a specific juror. When she was dissatisfied with journalistic work by the assignments she was given and deciding to go after the field of publicity. DuVernay began her career as a junior assistant to publicity for a film studio that was small, right after graduating from the college. In 1999, she established her own firm of public relations called The DuVernay Agency.
